Maintaining Your Napleton Mid Rivers Ram 2500

Maintaining Your Mid Rivers Ram 2500.

Your Mid Rivers Ram 2500 is one big truck. As big as a hulk and about as powerful as a Semi- (Are we exaggerating?-Perhaps a bit, but so what?!). But even the hulkiest of trucks still need a bit of tender loving care in order to provide years of proper service. Following these relatively simple steps will help you realize years and years of service and reliability from your new Ram 2500 truck. Read on for more:

Different Styles, Different Tastes: The Ram 2500 is available with a variety of engines and cabs. First are the gas-engined versions, led by the 5.7-liter 383-horsepower Hemi engine. Next up is the 6.4-liter 410-horsepower Hemi engine. Finally, the big grunt comes from the 6.7-liter Cummins turbo-diesel producing 800 lb-ft of torque. That should be sufficient to pull a Boeing 747. (Again, we exaggerate, but couldn't resist.) All are mated to a buyer's choice of six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode. For detailed information, please consult your Ram 2500 Owner's Manual

Brakes and More: Brake pads and rotors are pieces that help to keep your Ram 2500 under control. They are the restorers of chaos that happens when the Hemi or the Cummins Diesel proceed at full roar. Sure, they aren't as sexy as lift kits, or off-road LED Lightbars. They simply don't rate, but the reality is they deserve top-shelf billing. The service advisors at Mid Rivers Ram suggest your Ram 2500's brake pads be inspected during every oil change. Driving less aggressively will help them last longer because you are not rushing up to a stoplight and then slamming on the brakes. But as always, your mileage may vary. Your Mid Rivers Ram Service Advisor will be happy to inspect the pads and rotors during your next visit.

All-Wheel-Alignment: Finding your Ram 2500 pulling to the left or right is a clue that your big brute of a truck is a candidate for alignment. In addition to pulling in either direction it will help to wear down the tires that much quicker, which will only make the problem worse. Properly aligned, your Ram Truck should get equal tire wear at all four corners. A Napleton Pro Tip: Always rotate and balance your tires before settling down for an alignment. That way, tire wear will be equal at every corner. Finally, consult your Mid Rivers Ram 2500 owner's manual and your Service Advisor for more information.

Filtration: It's important that you allow your Mid Rivers Ram 2500 to breathe freely. That's why we suggest you ask for Mopar-approved air filters at Mid Rivers CDJR parts and service department. Designed to keep the airflow clean, they help trap dust and debris before entering the engine. After approximately 30,000 miles, the filter will eventually wear out, but that's to be expected. Your Mid Rivers Ram Service Department will stock the correct filter for all your Ram needs.

Oil and Filters: Oil is the one product that keeps things running smoothly in your new Mid Rivers Ram 2500. Regardless of which engine suits your needs, you should not scrimp when it comes to motor oil. A high-quality lubricant is the order of the day and can be a conventional type but we at Mid Rivers suggest that since chances are very good that you will be using your Ram 2500 for some heavy duty work, it would be worth in the long run to use a high-grade synthetic oil. Your Ram 2500 is equipped with an automatic Oil Change Indicator System to alert you when it is time for some new oil and a filter. Smart sensors within the system monitor your Ram 2500's workload to suggest you change the oil sooner rather than later, based on the work your truck has done. Your Mid Rivers Ram Service Advisor will suggest changing it more frequently if you do a lot of towing or extreme duty. Either way, don't let a year go by without changing it up.

Other Fluids: Oil isn't the only thing crucial to the operation of your Mid Rivers Ram 2500. There's Brake Fluid, Coolant, Transmission Fluid, Wiper Fluid, Power Steering Fluid and others that all do their part to insure the engine runs at its most efficient. Your Ram 2500 owner's manual recommends a monthly check of all fluid levels that will guarantee that your truck is always ready for local service, or a big cross country road trip, regardless of where you need it to take you. Stop by Mid Rivers where your Ram Service technicians will be happy to top off the fluids as needed, even between oil changes. Call Mid Rivers Ram for a service appointment today.

Transmission Maintenance: Your Ram 2500 is equipped with a modern, sealed, automatic or manual transmission. Under normal conditions it should remain reliable for use on a daily basis with very little in the way of maintenance. The only service required would be a transmission fluid drain and refill at 120,000 miles. If you subject it to rather extreme duty, you might decide to replace the transmission fluid every 60,000 miles instead. If your Ram 2500 is equipped with a transfer case, that too should be replaced every 120,000 miles for normal usage and every 60,000 miles for extreme usage.

Windshield Wipers: A safety, as well as convenience device, your Ram 2500 windshield helps keep a clear eye on the road ahead. But they do eventually wear out thanks to cold, heat, rain and sun. In other words, there is no getting around it, your wiper blades will wear out simply by being out in the elements. And we know how you use your Ram 2500s. The parts department at Mid Rivers CDJR will be sure to stock fresh pairs of new wiper blades so that you can continue up the road, regardless of the conditions outside. A Napleton Pro Tip: When the wipers streak, spot or squeak, that's a good indication that it's time for replacement.

Spark Plugs and batteries: Your Mid Rivers Ram 2500 features long-life spark plugs that are good for approximately 100,000 miles. Most of the time they last that long, but every now and then, one wise guy manages to sneak through. At that point, and with the reasonable price associated with them, it is a good idea to change out the whole set. The same with your battery. Expect to get 3-4 years of service from your battery but possibly less if you live in extremely heated or cold regions. The Mid Rivers Ram Service Department offers Mopar-Approved replacement spark plugs and batteries whenever you need them. We are just a phone call (and a jumper cable) away.

Finally: It's great book for the nightstand! That's right! The Ram 2500 Owner's Manual offers plenty of compelling tips for owners of the Ram 2500 Pickup truck. It also details of how to get the most from your Ram truck. Your Mid Rivers Ram, Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep service advisors are eager to offer you professional service that will keep your Ram 2500 running like new. Call for more information today.
