Maintaining Your Napleton Mid Rivers Ram 1500

Maintaining Your Mid Rivers Ram 1500.

One of the toughest workhorses on the road, your Mid Rivers Ram 1500 is a legend. Why else would you have bought it? Amiright? Regardless of whether you own the Standard, Quad-Cab or Crew Cab, we know you'll be playing hard with it. That's just the nature of the beast, and with the new Ram, there's no denying….it is a beast. Your Mid Rivers team has put together a list of basic maintenance jobs, your Ram will provide years of service. We've outlined just a few of them below:

A Wide Variety: It doesn't matter which version of the Ram 1500 you have, they all deserve the same level of respect. Meaning they all deserve to be properly maintained for the long haul. Regardless of whether your power comes from the 305-horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 or the 395-horsepower 5.7-liter Hemi V8, both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Your Mid Rivers Ram 1500 Owner's Manual offers a road map of your new truck's service needs

All-Wheel-Alignment: Does your Ram 1500 feel the urge to drift left or right without actually being steered in that direction? That's a clear sign it needs an alignment. If it dives left or right while braking, it definitely needs one! Unchecked, it can contribute to premature tire wear. Properly aligned, your Ram 1500 truck should get equal tire wear at all four corners. Consult your owner's manual and your Mid Rivers Service Advisor for more information. A Napleton Pro Tip: Always rotate and balance your tires before settling down for an alignment. That way tire wear should equalize at all four corners of your Ram 1500.

Pads, Rotors, Etc.: While not as exciting as an airbag or seatbelts, Brake Pads and Rotors are two of the most important pieces of safety kit on your Ram 1500 truck. Brake pads squeeze against the rotors to bring the Ram 1500 to a stop, every time. Every time until they wear out, that is. Depending on your driving style, they may last longer or shorter than average but as we say in the automotive business, your mileage may vary. Your Mid Rivers Ram Service Advisor will be happy to inspect the pads and rotors.

Oil and Filters: The Oil is what makes everything work smoothly together in your new Mid Rivers Ram 1500. Regardless of what you are packing under the hood, motor oil is the one place where scrimping just doesn't pay off. By choosing a high-performance grade Mopar-approved Conventional or Synthetic Motor Oil, you will be helping your Ram 1500 to deliver optimal performance regardless of what stands in its way. As described in your Ram 1500 Owner's Manual, this Ram 1500 is equipped with an Oil Change Indicator System to tell you when it's time to change the oil and filter. And it's a smart system, too! Sensors monitor your Ram's workload, and adjust when it's time to change. It may be in as few as 3,500- or as many as 7,500 miles. We recommend changing it more frequently if you do a lot of towing or subject it to extreme duty. At the outside, your owner's manual and your Dodge Service Advisor both recommend intervals not to exceed 10,000 miles or 12 months. In other words, change it once a year at worst.

Filtration: Your Mid Rivers Ram 1500 is subjected to many differing degrees of work load, from highway driving to construction sites to stop and go traffic in the city. Each has its own degree of debris and dirt which is why your Ram 1500 uses Mopar-approved air filters to keep running mile-after-mile. Like an old scrub brush, air filters do eventually wear out, losing their effectiveness at approximately 30,000 miles or so. At this point, it should be replaced to avoid any loss of efficiency. Consider changing it sooner if your Ram truck spends any time in dry, arid, dusty regions. Your Mid Rivers Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep and Ram Service Department will stock the correct filter for all Rams.

Fluids and Other Wet Things: Wiper fluid, Brake fluid, Transmission fluid, Power Steering fluid, Coolant and Oil are all essential to keeping your Ram 1500 truck running properly for the long-haul. In short, they control the operation of nearly everything inside your Mid Rivers Ram 1500. Eventually they evaporate, lose their effectiveness, get used up or less likely, but still a possibility, become contaminated. That's why a periodic check on your 1500's fluid levels once a month, and definitely before that big family road trip, are musts. Staying on top of these vital necessities will make sure your Ram 1500 is always road-ready. Your Ram Service Department technicians will be happy to top off the fluids as necessary, even between oil changes. Call Mid Rivers for an appointment today.
